Does LINDT make any gluten free products?
Our white and extra dark (70% cocoa and above) chocolate products do not contain barley malt in the recipe, but because they run on the same production lines as other products there is a chance of cross contamination.
Are any LINDT products nut free?
No LINDT product is 100% guaranteed nut allergen safe. All LINDT manufacturing facilities process nut products, so there is a potential for cross contamination.
Are any LINDT products soy free?
The Excellence 85% and 99% bars are our only products that do not contain soya lecithin, but they may contain minute traces of soy because they run on the same production lines as products containing soya lecithin.
Are any LINDT products dairy free?
Our 70%, 85%, 99% bars do not contain dairy products, but all LINDT manufacturing facilities process products made with dairy, so there is a potential for cross contamination.
Does LINDT sell sugar-free/reduced-sugar chocolate products?
LINDT does not make any sugar-free products at this time.
What do chocolate percentages mean?
The percentage quantifies the amount of cocoa solids contained the chocolate. This includes cocoa liquor and additional cocoa butter. For example, 70% Excellence bar contains 70% cocoa solids, 85% Excellence bar contains 85% cocoa solids.
Is "white chocolate" really chocolate?
No. White Chocolate does not contain cocoa liquor, only cocoa butter, sugar, milk powder and flavorings therefore it is not technically chocolate.
Is dark chocolate healthy?
Studies show that high cocoa content dark chocolate contains beneficial antioxidants, but we recommend you enjoy chocolate in moderation and savor it slowly. LINDT chocolate is an indulgence. We do not sell our chocolate as health food.
Are there trans fats or hydrogenated oils in LINDT chocolate?
None of our products contain trans fats or hydrogenated oils.
How much caffeine is in chocolate?
Very little caffeine is found in chocolate in comparison to the amount found in the other commonly consumed sources:
- 1 oz of Dark Chocolate contains about 20 mg of caffeine,
- 1 oz of Milk Chocolate contains about 6 mg of caffeine
- 1 oz of White Chocolate contains less than 2 mg of caffeine
Dark chocolate has a higher caffeine content because it contains more cocoa. In comparison, an average can of soda contains about 50 mg of caffeine and the average cup of coffee approximately 80 - 155 mg.
What is the shelf life of LINDT products?
All LINDT products are stamped with a "Best Before" date on the wrapper or box.
How should I store chocolate?
The most favorable storage temperature for our chocolate products is between 60° and 68° F. Store chocolate in a dry environment with no exposure to sunlight or foods with strong odors.
Can chocolate be refrigerated?
While not recommended, sometimes weather conditions make it necessary. Place the entire package into a sealed plastic bag to protect from moisture and flavor loss. When ready to consume, while in the plastic bag, slowly allow the chocolate to warm up to room temperature to prevent condensation, (2 hours at 65F). Blot off any moisture that may have formed on the surface. Never re-refrigerate chocolate once it has reached room temperature.
